It has been a pleasure from start to finish working with Phil & his team on my cellar project. I was impressed with Phil from our first meeting. His polite and unassuming manner was reassuring and he clearly demonstrated a high level of knowledge and experience that convinced me they were the best people for the job. The quote I received a few days after Phil's site visit was detailed and easy to understand.

I could have hired other firms that I had been talking to but I had serious concerns where they could be cutting corners. On seeking clarification with Phil on these points he was steadfast and gave very convincing and sensible reasons as to his approach and solution.

Phil communicated extremely well and was never difficult to get hold of which was really important to me. I was kept informed along the way and he was always patient, helpful & willing to answer my questions (& I had lots of them!).

The time estimate of how long things would take was very accurate with the whole project being completed on time and on budget as per the original quote.

Such was the trust I felt towards the team I gave them a key to the house as I was out at work most days.

The rest of the team were also a pleasure to have around: Dave & John lumbered with the grunge work of the initial 'foundations' (creating most of the dust!) Paul sorting the plumbing out; Ryan the plastering; Andy had his work cut out with the joinery (sorry!); & Dan managing the electrics and avoiding any house demolition in the process given the age of the circuitry! They were all extremely polite and accommodating and, may I say, very well house trained treating my home with the utmost respect. Furthermore, they always tidied up after themselves at the end of each day.

Inevitably, there are always a few snags with any building project. These were dealt with as a priority and sorted out quickly and efficiently. Nothing was too much trouble.

The quality of the work is plain to see in the finished room. I am absolutely delighted with the outcome and wouldn't hesitate recommending Phil & his team. They are a credit to their profession. So a big thank you Phil to you and your team for all your hard work. Sorry I wasn't able to oblige with more cake!

We invited three companies round to give us estimates to refurbish our basement flat to include: new floors; underfloor heating; wall insulation; new kitchen and bathroom; some fitted storage and new outside doors. We chose Hatchmore Space because Phil seemed to know exactly how to remedy the problem and because his estimate seemed to be the most reasonable for the amount of work that he would do. He also gave us the opportunity to see another basement conversion that he and his team had worked on and we were really impressed by the standard of the work.

Phil itemised all the work he would do and gave us clear estimates of the costs involved, in advance. We arranged to pay him by instalments as the work progressed and this worked out really well - no nasty surprises. Phil was also really good at keeping in touch, sometimes on a daily basis, so we always knew what was going on. So, the floors came up, the walls came down, the positive input ventilation system was installed; the pumps went in and the drains were cleared out. Lovely thick layers of insulation were installed in the walls and the underfloor heating was put down. All the other professionals that Phil assembled were fantastic - great at their own jobs and a really friendly team: there was nothing to find fault with. They were also very aware that there were other residents in the building and took care to minimise the disruption for them. They came up with great solutions to creating storage space in a relatively small flat and fitted a lovely, space-efficient kitchen and bathroom: great tiling, electrics and joinery. To finish the job we had two excellent composite doors fitted to the front and back and, right within the time estimated, we had a warm, dry, energy efficient flat, with constant dry, hygienic air circulation, that it is a really nice place to live in. In our opinion, Phil and his team did a great job and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

We wanted to add an extra living space to our Victorian House and decided to convert our current cellar and add an extra room downstairs. This meant significant structural work and having a digger under the house at one point! Phil quoted for the job quickly and we managed to schedule a date in for work to start in May 2014. The structural work took a couple of months as the extra room was full of earth and they were digging out and filling 2 skips a day, as well as putting underpinning in place. Once the structural work was completed, the transformation was fairly quick and absolutely astonishing. The project was completed by mid-August 2014. We were so happy with the quality of work and Phil’s team obviously all took pride in what they were doing. We have no hesitation in recommending Phil and his team to others who are considering using them.

Our first builder bailed on the job after 9 days having undertaken some substandard underpinning, leaving walls over excavated and unsupported.

Phil and his respective teams rescued the project (and our house) producing an absolutely first class basement conversion, comprising of an open plan lounging area to flush patio, bedroom, utility and bathroom. The works included a drainage and waterproofing system, correct underpinning, under floor heating / plumbing / new boiler, full electric overhaul with linked smoke alarms and LED down lighters, bespoke joinery / stairs, engineering steel/ building work/ plastering.

All the works were finished to a very high standard on time and on budget and importantly levels of communication were excellent throughout Cannot recommend highly enough.

Phil and his team recently completed the partial conversion of our integral garage into a playroom and we couldn't be happier to recommend them. But to further clarify…

Phil came to look at the job quickly and delivered a fair and thoroughly detailed quote within a few days. He was prepared to talk the whole job through with us and without any pressure completely reassured us and made us feel that we were part of the process from minute one. He set a date to start and stuck to it.

As such within a few weeks Phil and the team were on site and transforming a dull storage room into our new kid’s playroom. The team were on site early in the morning, kept us informed as to what was happening every day and were brilliant at entertaining and working around our children. The guys not only worked hard but went that extra mile to make sure we got exactly what we wanted/ what we didn’t even think we could have!

Of particular note was Dave’s careful and meticulous plastering and star wars conversations with our eldest (and the fact he took his dust sheets home to wash, thus keeping our house as clean as he possibly could!), Phil’s commitment to getting us reclaimed doors that were in keeping with our house, the exact fittings for our bathroom that we wanted and cash for the stones the team dug out of our cellar (!), Andy’s beautiful joinery and Carl and Nick’s exacting plumbing and electrical work. As a team the guys worked together brilliantly and their camaraderie, professionalism, attention to detail and integrity were evident in all they did.

The end results speak for themselves – a fabulous space that we love and spend loads of time in.

Phil sent all of the building regulation documents through a few weeks after the job and always makes time to chat when we see him on other jobs.
